
Conceived of as a retreat and education center, this property is located on the eastern shore of Tomales Bay near the town of Marshall with dramatic views towards the Point Reyes peninsula. The waterfront site presented ecological challenges requiring unique and sensitive approaches to environmental systems and conditions. The architectural program included common meeting spaces and sleeping accommodation for groups of visiting resident guests. The beach level is dedicated for access to the waterfront for kayaking and marine study. Indoor and outdoor areas engage with the surrounding landscape, allowing for multiple gathering and teaching spaces.
